Kathryn (Ellwood) Gordon studied the art of glassblowing at Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design (1978 – 1981) under the tutelage of Karl Shantz and Daniel Creighton.

In 1984 Kathryn opened her own hot glass studio and continued to run it until the birth of her second child in 1990.

In 1994, Kathryn traveled to North Carolina to the Penland School of Crafts to study lampworking with Shane Fero and Frederick Birkhill and, upon returning, started up her own business again.

Further study under Loren Stump in 1998 in North Carolina taught her the more intricate techniques of glass bead making.

In 2005, Kathryn was awarded a

scholarship to study under James Smircich at Red Deer College in Alberta.
